Over the past eleven years, we have completed several projects on fish farms for clients across Scotland. Alongside some of the larger projects, we are also regularly contracted to upgrade and maintain shore based sea sites for both Bakkafrost Scotland and Cooke Aquaculture, delivering all aspects of concrete, drainage and building upgrades to many sites the length of Scotland. Take a read below for some more detail on the larger projects we have completed over the years, and ones we are still working on today.
2012 - Furnace – RAS Parr Unit
We had an early introduction to partial RAS systems in 2012, where we delivered all aspects of civils and building work on an RAS Parr Unit, as the main and principal contractor. The project lasted around 8 months and was completed for Cooke Aquaculture. Process design was by AKVA.
2014 - Furnace – RAS Smolt Unit
In 2014, we acted as the main and principal contractor on the eighteen month development of an RAS Smolt Unit, also in Furnace for Cooke Aquaculture. Being one of the first RAS systems installed in the UK, we delivered all aspects of civils and building work. This was a challenging site, tidal at formation level and there was very little space to work, however this project matured our approach to RAS installation. Process design was by AKVA.
2018 - Ormsary – Tank Hall Upgrades
From 2018 - 2021, we completed a series of tank hall upgrades for Hendrix Genetics. This involved bringing existing processing areas up to modern standards to allow the adaptation of new growth technologies. Existing tanks and infrastructure were dismantled and removed, and new tanks/process pipework and floors were installed.
2018 - Applecross - RAS Aquaculture Systems
From 2018 to the present day, we have been completing a six-phase project for Bakkafrost Scotland at Applecross in the north of Scotland. For this project, we have delivered all civils & building works on the customers commitment to developing RAS aquaculture systems. Our in house staff have delivered all concrete, drainage and process pipe systems, groundworks, and landscaping, with our sub-contractors delivering steel frame buildings, food safe panelling, brickwork, and elements of M&E installations. Processing systems were designed by AKVA (Phase 1-3) and Nofitech (Phase 4-6). We also acted as the main contractor and principal contractor on phases 1-3.
2021 - Cairndow – Salmon Processing Facility Expansion
In 2021, also for Bakkafrost Scotland, we acted as the main & principal contractor on the expansion of the salmon processing facility. This was a six month project which involved the creation of extra food safe factory space to allow a further process line to be installed.
2022 - Cairndow – Ozone and Drumfilter Expansion
Last year, we completed a five month project for Cooke Aquaculture, also at Cairndow. To safeguard and partially re-circulate existing water on a traditional “flow through” system, we installed an Ozone water holding tank, drumfilter chamber and associated steel frame building to house all mechanical and electrical installations. This was designed by IAT International.
